Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
So I was perusing the USMint page and of course anything that's worth any real value has long sold out. However, they took off a whole bunch of 24K Buffalo's, GAE's, and PAE's that said "Product not available". Furthermore, on the Prosperity Sets and Celebration coins, they were available, then they stated that the "Product not available". Then, this morning, they put the Prosperity Sets and Celebration coins BACK UP FOR SALE AT AN INCREASED PRICE.
Prosperity Set $1078.88 -> $1175.00 Celebration Buffalo coin $968.88 -> $1147.00 I bought a Prosperity Set for $1078.88, but the delay for shipping isn't until 1-27 and getting pushed back with every day that passes by. I really, really, really hope that it gets shipped out on time. Same goes for the UHR Gold Double Eagle...Ihope that it comes out on 1-22! |
Re: Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
The Mint's new pricing structure went into effect today, hence the increase in the prices, based on the average gold price of last week.
I too purchased one of their prosperity sets, and at first the mint website said my order was "in stock and reserved". Now it says it is on back order and expected to ship on 1-27. I called them to find out what is going on and was told due to the closure of one of their fulfillment centers and the moving of inventory they are somewhat discombobulated. I was told the coins are definitely in stock and will be shipped out, but due to the inventory move they are experiencing some current challenges. They expect everthing to return to normal soon. :confused_ma: |

Re: Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
Interesting posts above. MVHO is that very few items will be available. MVHO is that the product(s) are not in supply as the demand has taken up much of it (they can't print real gold silver or platinum); and the paper PROXY "price" (which is 100 to 500 to each real "physical" ounce) has to be maintained.
Rationing they call it - like the last GREAT DEPRESSION - IMVHO. :signs14::signs14::Surrender: |

Re: Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
So they're closing one of the fulfillment centers, namely Memphis right? Is there a reason behind this? Can anyone fill me in? Will this affect the UHR Gold double eagle release?

Re: Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
If they are "naked" temporarily JUST shorting the physical - or they are rationing -or they just plain ran out of real physical so they have to short & Ration - I don't know.
I do realize that they stopped selling large numbers of different PM type products for right now - read forever and a day. They will make just a few products like ONE ounce silver GE and ONE ounce gold GE - rationed out of course to make it look good. Strange how :thumb.aspx: (don't mind me) they make a ton of profit on these "YET" still can't make them. Please tell me why - if you can figure it out? Right? :signs14::Surrender::111::36_3_16: PS Weiss' new letter "Safe Money" says keep the US dollar but not the US treasury BOND BUBBLE. I wonder where you find the HARD stuff when you need it and INFLATION hits the BUCK as it falls from its new DEFLATIONARY heights. Somehow I don't think you can double (already from 10T to 20T they effectively did) the US money supply per three months and keep up the price. Unless the whole world is GOING WEIMAR type REPUBLIC (read Germany 1922-1923 10 million % inflation) :thumb.aspx: I did a complete search of EBAY last night and the gold BULLION TYPE regular old coins are bringing a premium - a high one at that - especially when encapsulated in PCGS or NGC. Suggest you buy now when gold is cheap cheaper and cheapest!:yes::banana::banana:banchabancha:36_3_16: |
Re: Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
Welp, they've sold out of the Celebration coins and Prosperity sets once again...I checked this morning. Gone...ALL GONE!
Meanwhile, my order has been pushed back yet again to 01-29-09 for scheduled shipment. What gives? |

I am basing my above supposition on their notice on New Mint Pricing that came out in the Federal Register, Vol. 74, No. 3 dated January 6, 2009. I cite a portion of that notice here: Quote:
I am thinking their prices will be about $50 lower than what they were showing for the Prosperity Set and the Celebration Coin these last few days. |
Re: Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
Makes sense, but with them doing that, wouldn't that cause an inconvenience to some degree for buyers that wish to purchase? From what I've seen, there's got to be a deeper reason for this 'new' weekly update of prices. Along with that and the elimination of all fractionals, I truly believe that they've prepared for the proverbial bum-rushing of buying this year.
Let me think out loud some more...so if the prices are adjusted every week, then the price spikes won't cause as much of a 'rush' versus the fixed pricing. Gold must be getting ready to fly and the US Mint doesn't have enough gold to cover what's going to happen this year, so they stopped the fractionals. Hmmm...doesn't sound too good at all. |
Re: Anybody see the stunt they pulled on the USMint.gov page?!?!
*sigh*
My Prosperity Set is still on 'backorder'. Would it be feasible to cancel my first order and take the $50 hit with ordering another set? Or does it not make a difference? I hate seeing my order get pushed back one day everyday. Now, it's pushed to 02-02-2009. Any suggestions? |

If you really want the Prosperity set I would recommend that you just leave as is. If you cancel and then reorder, your new order will be placed on the request list in the order it was received. If there happens to be a shortage of the coins, the available coins will go to those who ordered first. IMO, it is not worth the risk. I know it is tough waiting, but I think you will eventually get the set. |
